Newagen Alpaca Farm

We are fiber producers raising alpacas on a small coastal island, Southport, Maine. We consider ourselves a small farm with 26 alpacas in our herd. Once a year, just after shearing, each alpaca’s fleece is hand sorted and tumbled on our farm before it is crafted into individual yarns. Our fibers don’t leave Maine, minimizing our footprint, from our spinning wheels or from the mill’s wheels, all our yarns are local and sustainable, raised here in our backyard. As a working farm managed by the two of us, we like to share with our visitors the process of how we create our yarns and their local origins. Alpacas are represented by twenty-two natural colors. Our focus of our production is those colors undyed. We have a gift shop and studio on site and online. Throughout the year, we offer several classes working with fiber from spinning yarn to creating alpaca rugs all from our alpaca fibers. Our agritourism program consists of farm tours in our viewing pen, alpaca treks year round and private paca lunch tours in summer only as well as a free program for veterans and first responders.
